Soaked in Sorsogon Day 3: Paguriran Island

Soaked in Sorsogon Day 2: The Beaches of Matnog
Soaked in Sorsogon Day 3: Paguriran Island
Side Trip: Camarines Sur Water sports Complex

We were dropped off the signage of Paguriran Island beach resort. It is at the left side of the road. One thing to note is that Paguriran Island is a small Island that you could reach from the mainland via foot since the water in between is very shallow.

That small island is Paguriran Island
If you plan on staying overnight, there are three resorts in front of Paguriran Island that you could choose from. This is quite confusing because they don't have different names. All 3 resorts share the name "Paguriran Island Resort". Probably because the three owners are relatives however they are not in good terms. Each has something bad to say about the other. It is sad because I think this family feud is whats hindering the development of this place to its full potential.

A bit of advice, check the rates and the rooms of all the 3 resorts so you could choose which suits your needs. As for us, we did not knew about this so we checked in the resort we found on Facebook. In my opinion, this one resort is the most expensive amongst the three. Php 1000 for a small non aircon room with a not so well maintained common toilet is pricey as compared to the other two resorts. We actually do not mind paying just as long as we get what we paid for, but this time, we didn't. Also, the other two resort owners have a sari-sari store so it's more convenient and they are situated right in front of Paguriran Island. They are also more concerned with the visitors and the one we were in.

Ok enough of the ranting, we slept early that day to be able to catch the sunrise at Paguriran Island.

We realized that we've been kissed by the sun enough so we left Paguriran Beach at 12 NN. After 2 hours of travel and waiting time we arrived at the familiar Sorsogon Grand Terminal. We ate our lunch/merienda there and also purchased our bus ticket back to Manila. Because of the trauma that Amihan Bus Lines brought us, we thought we'd try out Isarog's Sleeper Bus that will depart on April 23, 8:30 PM at the Naga Bus Terminal for Php 1,300.

We then took a van going to Daraga, Albay. The van dropped us of at Daraga Van Terminal where we boarded another van bound to Naga. Total travel time is more than 3 hours. The Naga bound bus final destination is SM Naga. I met up with my former officemate who is an Oragon. He accompanied us in choosing an accomodation in Naga.

According to him, it is much better to spend the night at Naga's Centro because it is more accessible and safe, also, most of the establishments are located there. Centro is just an 8 pesos tricycle away from SM Naga. There we decided to stay at Green Hotel because of their cheap rates and per hour rate basis. We need this because our departure is 8:30 PM and most hotels would require visitors to stay only until 12 NN. At Php 1,120 we get to stay at an aircon room with one queen size bed and one single bed, hot and cold shower, cable TV for 24 hours. One problem is we saw that couples usually checks in at this hotel and judging by its name, we think that it is that kind of hotel. :)

We ate our dinner at Geewan and that is when I realized that my sweets loving Bulakenya tongue is not really a fan of Bicol cuisine, although my travel buds enjoyed pinangat, page and laing a lot.
